Daredevil: Born Again Season 3: What Is Confirmed So Far

Short version. Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 finished on Disney+ on May 5, 2026, with Matt Murdock in prison and Wilson Fisk pushed out of New York. Season 3 is real, it has already finished shooting, and it is widely reported to be arriving on Disney+ in 2027. Marvel and Disney have not announced a premiere date. The "March 2027" figure that circulates on aggregator sites is an expectation built on the show's production rhythm, not an official announcement.

Both seasons stream on Disney+ in the US and the UK, and on JioHotstar in India. What is confirmed about Season 3, and what is not

Worth separating clearly, because much of what gets repeated about Season 3 is inference rather than announcement.

Confirmed:

• A third season was greenlit. Marvel's head of streaming, television and animation Brad Winderbaum said in September 2025 that the show had been greenlit for Season 3 and would start shooting the following year.
• Dario Scardapane returns as showrunner.
• The season runs to eight episodes, the same length as Season 2.
• Filming took place in New York City, starting in March 2026 and wrapping on July 21, 2026. Vincent D'Onofrio announced the wrap himself on X that day.
• It is a Disney+ series. That has not changed.

Not confirmed:

• A premiere date. As of the end of July 2026, no date has been announced by Marvel or Disney+.
• A premiere month. Winderbaum has said he hopes the show can settle into an annual March release, and that hope is where every "March 2027" headline comes from. It is a stated ambition, not a scheduled date. TV Guide, writing on June 29, 2026, said there was still no official date and called a 2027 premiere a prediction, and Comic Book Club described March 2027 as tentative, adding that confirmation was some way off.
• Plot specifics. Everything in the Season 3 sections below comes from set photography, crew merchandise and cast interviews, and is labelled as such.

Season 1 landed on March 4, 2025 and Season 2 on March 24, 2026, and Season 3 finished shooting in July 2026, which leaves plenty of post-production runway for a 2027 arrival. That makes 2027 a reasonable read. Treat any specific date as unofficial until Disney+ posts it.

Matt Murdock's courtroom confession

The finale puts Matt back in a courtroom, defending Karen Page, who had been arrested and charged under the anti-vigilante framework Fisk built around his "Safer Streets" law. To prove Fisk was still running a criminal operation while sitting as mayor, Matt testifies under oath that he watched Fisk smuggle illegal weapons into New York, which means declaring in open court that he is Daredevil. He proves it by throwing his cane across the room, bouncing it off a wall and catching it. It works: Karen is acquitted of all charges.

It also destroys him. Matt is disbarred and arrested for the things Daredevil has done, including assault and attempted murder. He hears the police arriving before anyone else at the table does, and he does not run. The season ends with him incarcerated, which is the single most important fact about Season 3.

What happened to Wilson Fisk

Fisk is exposed as still operating as the Kingpin. Governor Marge McCaffrey pressures him to resign, and the deal he takes requires him to give up his US citizenship and leave New York. Recaps describe him ending the season isolated on a beach, in the exile he had spent the season insisting he did not want. He had already lost Vanessa earlier in the season, in episode 5, after she failed to recover from the injuries she suffered in Bullseye's attack on the pair. It was Ayelet Zurer's last appearance in the role.

Matt does not kill him. The ending is built on mercy rather than a kill, with Matt framing the deal as giving their shared city some grace instead of restarting the cycle. D'Onofrio is confirmed for Season 3, so exile is not the end of the character.

Season 2 release schedule, for the record

Season 2 ran eight episodes on Disney+ from March 24 to May 5, 2026, at 6pm PT on Tuesdays. Episode 1 arrived March 24, episodes 2 and 3 dropped together on March 31, then one per week through the finale. Season 1 premiered March 4, 2025 and ran nine episodes.

One week after the finale, on May 12, 2026, Disney+ released The Punisher: One Last Kill, a 51-minute Marvel Television Special Presentation directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, who co-wrote it with Jon Bernthal. Bernthal stars as Frank Castle, with Deborah Ann Woll returning as Karen Page. If you stopped after Season 2, that special is the next thing to watch.

The following names are attached to Season 3 across trade reporting, published cast lists and heavily documented location shooting in New York:

A note on how solid each is. Ritter's return as Jessica Jones was formally announced by Marvel around Season 2. Colter and Jones were reported by TheWrap and Deadline in early April 2026 after being photographed on the Season 3 set outside a Brooklyn courthouse with Ritter, which is set-based reporting rather than a press release. Yung's Elektra was established the same way, via set photos from Dumbo in late June 2026 showing her in a comic-accurate red costume with her twin sai. Marvel has not issued a formal casting announcement for every name here, so treat the Defenders reunion as very well documented rather than officially unveiled.

The Punisher question

Jon Bernthal is not attached to Season 3. TV Guide reported in June 2026 that Frank Castle has not been announced and has not been sighted among the cast during filming. Bernthal carried his own Disney+ special in May 2026 and appears in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, so the character is active. He is simply not part of the verified Season 3 lineup. Anything claiming otherwise is a rumour.

The prison costume from the wrap gifts

On July 23, 2026, two days after filming wrapped, images of the crew's wrap gifts circulated via the X account @_DaredevilShots and were picked up by outlets including The Direct and ComicBookMovie. The art shows Matt in a prison setting. Outlets differ on how much of the orange jumpsuit he still has on, but the details they agree on are an improvised orange mask or bandana over the upper half of his face, taped and bloodied hand wraps, and visible stab wounds.

The significant part is what it leaves out. No horns, no armour. It reads as something Matt could assemble inside a prison rather than a suit brought in from outside, which lines up with where the finale left him. Reporting on the same set photos also indicates Bullseye appears disguised in a prison officer's uniform, and that Matt eventually gets out and reunites with Elektra.

Several outlets have connected this to The Devil in Cell Block D, the comic run in which Murdock is imprisoned after his identity goes public. Marvel has not announced that Season 3 adapts it, so treat that as a strongly indicated direction rather than a confirmed one. Winderbaum has said the season opens after a time jump, and published cast and production details place it roughly a year after the Season 2 finale.

Is Daredevil in Spider-Man: Brand New Day?

No. Charlie Cox has denied it repeatedly and directly. Speaking at the 2026 BAFTA Games Awards, he said "I'm not in it. Don't ask. I'm not in it," and added, on the theory that he had been edited out of the trailer, "I don't know what you're talking about, but I'm not there. Unless they put me in after the fact using computer-generated images, I'm not there. I promise." He gave a near-identical answer to ITV News at the same event.

The confusion is understandable. Frank Castle is in the film. Jon Bernthal is confirmed in the Brand New Day cast alongside Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Mando and Sadie Sink. A Punisher appearance in a Spider-Man film reads like a Defenders-corner crossover, and from there the Daredevil rumour writes itself. Fans also spent months reading trailer frames as evidence of a hidden Daredevil cameo, which is exactly what Cox was being asked about when he shut it down.

There is a narrative reason it makes little sense too. Brand New Day opens in theatres on July 31, 2026, and as of the end of Born Again Season 2, Matt Murdock is in prison and publicly identified as Daredevil. JioHotstar, formerly Disney+ Hotstar, is the only platform carrying Born Again in India. Both seasons are there on a standard subscription, and JioHotstar carries the show with Hindi, Tamil and Telugu audio options alongside the original English. This is the regional difference that matters: Disney+ does not operate as a standalone service in India, so an Indian viewer searching for Born Again on Disney+ will come up empty.
